GEICO Announces Auto Insurance Rate Decreases for Hawaii Policyholders

OAHU, Hawaii--GEICO has good news for motorists in the Aloha State: a new auto insurance rate plan that will save Hawaii drivers money. The new rating plan went into effect Feb. 1 for new policies and current policies that renew after March 16.

“Every one of our policyholders should receive a decrease for the same driving record and same coverages,” said Tim Dayton, branch manager for the Hawaii office. “GEICO is really pleased to be able to make auto insurance more affordable for Hawaii’s drivers in these very tough economic times.”

Overall premium changes for individual motorists will vary based upon factors such as coverages purchased, geographic area, type of vehicle, driving record and discounts for which they qualify.

“We can provide rate reductions because of better driving by our customers who have reduced the number of accidents on our roads,” said Dayton. “Other factors include having loyal customers who have referred so many of their friends and family to GEICO and the hard work of our 175 associates in Hawaii.”

GEICO has been insuring motor vehicles for 60 years in Hawaii and is the number one auto insurer in the state.

GEICO is the largest auto insurer in Hawaii and the third-largest private passenger auto insurer in the United States based on the latest 12 months of written premium. It provides auto and motorcycle insurance coverage for over 125,000 Hawaii policyholders and nearly 8.5 million policyholders nationally.

As a member of the Berkshire Hathaway group of companies, GEICO is rated A++ for financial stability by A.M. Best Company and ranks at the top of several national customer satisfaction surveys. For more information, go to http://www.geico.com.
