Study: Large Volumes of Cellulosic Biofuels Can Be Sustainably Produced by 2030

The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) will host Sandia National Laboratories and General Motors Corp. as they release a new study, Growing Green Energy: The 90 Billion Gallons Study. Using a newly developed tool known as the Biofuels Deployment Model, Sandia researchers determined that increasing cellulosic biofuel production to 75 billion gallons (in addition to the 15 billion gallons of starch ethanol called for in the Renewable Fuel Standard) could be sustainably achieved by 2030 within real-world economic and environmental parameters. |
