MARTORELL, Spain – February 3, 2009: For the third consecutive year, SEAT will be the proud sponsor of the Red Bull Air Race, the “Formula 1 of the air”.

In addition to the visual elements that compound the race, like the pylons, the gates and other elements of the races, SEAT also provides transportation to the race participants, with 75 vehicles used by the pilots and Red Bull Air Race team during the race period, the most prominent of which is the Follow Me car used at the airport to lead the planes to their positions in the airfield.

With more than 1.8 million spectators during the 2008 season, SEAT sponsored races in Rotterdam (Holland), London (United Kingdom), Budapest (Hungary) and Porto (Portugal) with strong visibility on the branded planes, air gates and other elements of the races. Last year, four million spectators followed on site the eight RBAR events worldwide.

In the 2009 season, the mythic air event returns to Barcelona. In 2006, over 1 million spectators gathered on the beaches and the waterfront to watch the planes in their amazing pirouettes.

Erich Schmitt, SEAT President, said “We are delighted that the Red Bull Air Race is coming back to the home town of SEAT. The Red Bull Air Race fits perfectly with our brand DNA and our objectives to further strengthen the awareness of SEAT among our target groups.”
