TrackMagic Racing Karts: New Owner and New Focus for an Iconic American Karting Brand

San Francisco, January 30, 2009: TrackMagic Racing Karts announces new ownership and focus on innovation, performance and growing the sport of karting.
Over its more than 15 year history, TrackMagic has seen the karting industry landscape shift and change. Popular classes have come and gone, new drivers – and families – have entered the sport while others have moved on and through it all, the black and yellow machines have been there, delivering stellar racing performance at reasonable price.
New president Mike Pickman is proud of TrackMagic’s history, but his vision is for the future of the company and karting. “I am excited to say that TrackMagic is definitely back in 2009. This born and bred American brand has a stellar history and a lot of opportunity to bring new ideas to the karting community” said Pickman. “We will work hard to bring change for the better to TrackMagic and the karting community as a whole. Everywhere I go, be it the local track or a national series, people have told me stories about their first TrackMagic chassis or experience, and it is definitely a thrill to be part of it.”
A long-time motor sports sponsor and successful businessman in the consumer electronics industry, Pickman is happy to meld his passion with business. That melding does not mean he sees TrackMagic as a fun side project though. His path forward for the company is a mix of pure performance and building the whole karting community.
“I want to re-establish TrackMagic’s position as a leader in the US market and see the brand grow throughout North America. To do that we are going to give racers a range of chassis built on innovative technology and world-class development,” said Pickman. “We also need to look at the karting community as a whole to make sure we are offering products and competition formats that welcome new entrants into the sport. We are looking at some pretty revolutionary ideas for the industry and I am excited about the potential they offer.”
With partners like Shock Doctor, Piloti, Bell Racing, K1 Racegear, Sparco, Alpine Stars and many others, TrackMagic has aligned itself with the best companies and products to compliment its chassis and parts business. “We aim to be a one-stop shop for our dealers, with chassis, engines, parts, trailers and many other items, making it easier for them to deliver a full suite of quality products to customers”, Pickman explains.
Since taking over, Pickman has been focused on bringing the company up to running speed and TrackMagic will have more announcements coming soon. “We will be announcing our competition plans as well as other news very soon. We are retooling the TrackMagic web site to be a great resource for people to see where the company is going and we will let you all know when it is ready for you” said Pickman.
Along with stellar on-track performance, Pickman does have another bit of TrackMagic history he wants to see continue and grow. “Not too long ago, TrackMagic was the center of the karting subculture. The skull and top hat logo was a sign of being a bit closer to the cutting edge in racing, skating, music and more. We want that part of the TrackMagic brand to continue.”
Dealers and customers of TrackMagic will instantly see changes in the way TrackMagic does business, such as the forging of relationships with unlikely partners both inside and outside the karting community, better parts availability and more technical knowledge that we can pass on to our customers, along with more education to bring new karters into the community.
