GLENDORA, Calif. January 28, 2008: Spokane (Wash.) County Raceway has joined the growing list of NHRA member tracks, it was announced today by NHRA officials. The multi-purpose motorsports facility, which includes a drag strip, road course and paved oval, is owned by Spokane County. The Board of County Commissioners recently signed a 25-year agreement with Austin Motorsports Management to operate the track. Austin Motorsports Management is owned by Bucky Austin, a successful businessman and drag racer. He has named Jay Livingston as general manager of the facility.

"We are very excited to bring NHRA Championship Drag Racing to the Spokane community," said Livingston. "There are a lot of great racers in this part of the country and they deserve a first-class facility. Our goal is to exceed their expectations."

Austin's agreement with the county calls for at least $2 million in improvements, and work is already under way.

The track will host an NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, June 12-14, 2009. The rest of the 2009 schedule features a full slate of events, including the NHRA Summit Racing Series, the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League, NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA, and several other major events. In 2010, they will host the NHRA Northwest Division Summit Racing Series Finals.
