Lexus RX 350 To Make Debut At Melbourne
MELBOURNE, Australia – January 29, 2009: Lexus will stage the Australian debut of its totally redesigned and restyled RX-350 at the 75th annual Melbourne Motor Show when it opens on 27 February.
The new Lexus RX has generated immense interest since it was first shown at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November.
With its high-efficiency double overhead cam V6 and all-wheel-drive powertrain, the RX 350 claims benchmark improvements in innovation, safety, performance, comfort and efficiency.
Its upgraded 3.5 litre petrol V6 engine develops 204 kW and is mated to an electronically controlled, sequential-shift, six-speed transmission, replacing the five-speed automatic of the previous model.
The RX was the first vehicle to offer reversing camera as standard in Australia and the new RX 350 boasts a big advance in safety systems.
A new side view monitoring system has a wide-angle camera located under the passenger-side rear view mirror on selected models, in addition to the reversing camera.
The new body styling claims improvements in comfort, manoeuvrability and fuel economy, with increased cargo space for even easier loading through the standard power-operated rear tailgate.
Along with the RX 350, Lexus will show its own supercar, the LF-A Roadster, and Australia's only range of high-performance hybrids on the Lexus display, which is the biggest single stand Lexus has ever had at Melbourne.
Melbourne International Motor Show runs from 27 February to 9 March at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and is organised and promoted by the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce through its dealer division the Australian Automobile Dealers Association (Vic).
