Braselton, GA. January 23, 2009: Scott Atherton will participate in a press conference with EPA and DOE officials on Febuary 3 at the Washington DC Auto Show.

The American Le Mans Series has been invited to participate as an exhibitor at the Washington, DC Auto Show Feb. 3-8 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

The Series, which has established itself as the global leader in green racing, will provide its Fan Headquarters to the showroom floor. In addition Corvette Racing's C6.R race car and the Audi R10 TDI will be on display. Corvette Racing, which races on cellulosic E85, had the best score last fall in the inaugural Green Challenge™. The Audi R10 TDI, meanwhile, races on clean sulfur-free diesel and has won the last three runnings of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Scott Atherton, American Le Mans Series President and CEO, will participate in a February 3 press conference (1:15 p.m. ET) along with officials from the EPA and DOE, citing motorsports' critical role in providing the platform for automobile manufacturers to develop alternative fuel technologies. In addition, Atherton will participate February 3-4 in SAE International's Government Industry Meetings.
