TOPEKA, Kan. January 23, 2009: SCCA announced today the addition of two events to the 2009 Muscle Milk® SCCA Trans-Am® Series schedule, bringing the season total to seven with at least one additional event to be added at a later date.

For the 24th time, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (Lexington, Ohio) will be the scene of a round of the Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Series, with Round Four of the 2009 season joining the May 30-31 Ohio Valley Region SCCA National Club Racing event dubbed the “Race of Champions.” The list of Mid-Ohio Trans-Am winners is a who’s who of road racing history, including Jerry Titus, Mark Donohue, Parnelli Jones, George Follmer, Greg Pickett, Scott Pruett, Tommy Kendall and Paul Gentilozzi to name a few.

The series will conclude it’s 2009 Championship at the venue that has held the most Trans-Am races—Road America, in Elkhart Lake, Wis. From 1970-2005, a Trans-Am race was run at Road America each season. For 2009, the event will run Sept. 19-20, leading into the 2009 SCCA National Championship Runoffs® week.

“As a track with a 54-year history, we are indebted to the series that have shared those years,” Road America President and General Manager George Bruggenthies said. “SCCA Trans-Am’s return to our circuit with its season finale will mark a 37-year partnership and provide another high-horsepower road racing event for our fans. The race will also be a powerful welcome to the teams arriving for the following week’s SCCA National Championship.”
