CRANFIELD, UK – January 16, 2009: Citroën and Trafficmaster are now building further on their long running partnership – which has seen a wide variety of Citroën cars and vans fitted with Trafficmaster traffic information, satellite navigation and stolen vehicle tracking systems.

Trafficmaster is now taking delivery of a fleet of Citroën vans and cars that will be used for equipment demonstration purposes and by a team of network engineers who maintain the company’s traffic sensors that monitor the UK’s motorways and trunk roads.

John Lawrence, Trafficmaster’s sales and marketing director, comments, “Trafficmaster expects all aspects of its business to reflect its advanced design and technology driven ethos. Citroën cars and vans also support our own corporate ethos to help us become more fuel efficient, greener and reduce our carbon footprint with low emission vehicles. In addition these vehicles offer high standards of comfort and safety and low whole life costs.”

Ian Hughes, Citroën’s marketing director, remarks, “We are delighted that Trafficmaster is placing its fleet business with Citroën. We have enjoyed a long-running business relationship with Trafficmaster and this fleet agreement brings further benefits to both companies, which are technological leaders in their respective fields.”

This order is the first major fleet deal to be obtained by Citroën Slough, the recently opened flagship Citroën Retail Group dealership based at Citroën’s UK headquarters. With more orders in the pipeline Trafficmaster has already taken delivery of some 20 Citroën cars and vans, ranging from the hot, but green C2 VTS 110hp 1.6HDi, new C5s and Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay vans. These vehicles, which have a planned, two year service life with Trafficmaster, have been acquired on a mix of outright purchase and Citroën Contract Motoring contract hire agreements.

Robert Handyside, Citroën’s commercial vehicle operations manager, comments, “Citroën pioneered the standard fitment of Trafficmaster Smartnav and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking on panel vans. Today new Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay panel vans feature Trafficmaster Smartnav and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking systems and are optionally available with Trafficmaster Fleet Director – an advanced, low cost, real time fleet management tool. This advanced Trafficmaster equipment delivers major operational cost, safety and environmental benefits.”
