SHANGHAI, China - January 12, 2009: Ford Motor China reported sales of 306,306 units in 2008, including passenger car sales of 204,334 units by Ford Motor’s passenger car joint-venture, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA). According to the latest data released by China Passenger Car Association in December, CFMA maintained its sales position among the Top 10 manufactures in China in 2008.

Jiangling Motors Corporation, Ford Motor's commercial vehicle investment in China, reached sales of 95,171 units. This included 27,472 units of the popular Ford Transit, up from 26,585 units in 2007.

“Ford Motor China took significant steps in 2008 to further enhance the value of the Ford brand through a deeper understanding of the Chinese consumer’s vehicle wants and needs. Despite the current challenges of the market, we remain committed to continually building the efficiency of our business and the professional sales and service offerings of our Ford dealer network in China,” said Robert Graziano, president and CEO of Ford Motor China.

Throughout last year, Ford continued to further standardize the processes at its authorized Ford dealerships with the aim of continuously improving customer satisfaction. This included further implementing Ford’s industry leading QualityCare service systems. By the end of 2008, 147 full-service Ford dealerships have obtained QualityCare certification.

Ford Motor also introduced several new models in 2008, including the significantly upgraded 2009 Ford Focus, the new 5-seater Ford S-MAX, refreshed Ford Transit, and Ford Mondeo with new applications and safety features. In October 2008, Ford Mondeo earned a five-star rating in C-NCAP safety crash-test, underscoring Ford's commitment to vehicle and passenger safety.

“Ford Motor Company is aggressively integrating our global resources to accelerate the development of new products with class-leading quality, safety, fuel efficiency, drivability and styling,” Graziano said. “A defining example of this is our first-quarter launch of the all-new Ford Fiesta in China. This is a global product that truly reflects Chinese customer's needs.”
