DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – December 10, 2008: The GMC Acadia has been awarded with the November 2008 'Editor's Choice Award' from Saudi Auto, the leading automotive magazine in Saudi Arabia. The Acadia picked up the award after a crossover comparative that saw it take on the Hyundai Veracruz, Mazda CX-9 and Honda Pilot.

The sporty, spacious and versatile crossover was crowned the champion after successfully overcoming its competitors and was recognized for possessing the best aspects of the class and melding them together intelligently, and with more style than its rivals.

Karim Corm, GMC SUV Marketing Manager in the Middle East says: “GMC has always projected the professional grade mantra, and with its smooth lines and athletic temperament, the Acadia is everything you would expect from the brand. With its carefully executed details such as athletic overall design, tight tolerances, tailored wheel-to-body relationship, the range of upscale amenities, exciting colours, and select bright trim, the Acadia has a strong and confident presence. We are delighted to accept this prestigious accolade from Saudi Auto.”

The Editor's Choice is a monthly test drive feature conducted by Saudi Auto's expert editorial team involving both static and dynamic evaluation criteria. The recognition marks another milestone for the GMC brands in the Middle East, coming at a time when the appeal of the brands and sales are at an all time high.

The Acadia comes with a powerful engine generating 313 hp @ 6300 rpm and 287 Nm of torque @ 4800 rpm. The 3.6-litre V6 powerplant, with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and direct fuel injection and Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission is the Acadia’s standard powertrain combination. This unit improves power output, fuel efficiency and towing capacity.

As you would expect with its luxury crossover utility vehicle tag, the Acadia comes with a wide range of useful optional and standard equipment, including heated outside mirrors, a tri-zone heating and air conditioning system, an intermittent rear wiper, ultrasonic parking assist, a power liftgate, an extended-range remote vehicle starting system, a heated windscreen washer fluid, an oversized dual SkyScape sunroof, a DVD entertainment system, and a Bose 5.1 Surround Sound audio system.

The Acadia also offers a segment exclusive head-up display that projects instrument readouts and other features onto the windscreen for easy, eyes-on-the-road reference. This feature is optional on SLT trims.

The 2009 GMC Acadia is available at GMC dealer showrooms region-wide.
