TOPEKA, Kan. December 9, 2008: The GT-2 and GT-3 races from the 45th SCCA National Championship Runoffs® at Heartland Park Topeka will air on SPEED Wednesday, Dec. 10.

GT-2 gets things started at noon (EST). John Black takes up the pole position in the No. 17 Nissan 350Z, but is beat to Turn One by James Goughary. Black keeps himself in the shadow of Goughary’s No. 46 Red Line Oil Nissan 350Z, appearing to have the edge on the first half of the course. At the race’s halfway point, Black decides it’s now or never. Will he push hard enough to capture his first GT-2 crown or will it be an early exit for Black like last year? Find out on SPEED.

More GT racing is on tap with the GT-3 National Championship fight at 1 p.m. (EST). Black is back in the No. 17 Nissan 350Z, starting on pole once again. This time he gets the start he needs, but mechanical woes would end Black’s race on lap two. Second starting Steve Spiers would inherit the lead in the No. 91 St. Clair Data Systems/RRE Nissan 200-SX, but he had a mirror-full of Wolfgang Maike and defending GT-3 Champion Pete Peterson. Driving the No. 98 Toyota/Goodyear/Valvoline/Penske Toyota Celica, could Peterson possibly make it around both Maike and Spiers to take his seventh National Championship? Watch and learn on SPEED.
