Aztec, NM December 9, 2008: It has been a while since Alex Kennedy was back in a Legends car to race. Racing part time in the NASCAR Camping World Series this year, sixteen year old Kennedy was in Las Vegas to have some fun last weekend! “The new road course at Las Vegas is a lot of fun,” said Alex Kennedy after setting a track record on the World Finals course. Seventy eight Legends cars showed up for this event that brought racers to Vegas from all over the world. “Our car was just sitting in the shop collecting dust but we decided to go racing,” joked Alex. “We just taped up the cracks and made the trip to Las Vegas to have some fun!” He was contending for the win when he got spun out in the hairpin turn. Alex would run out of laps while working his way back to the front. He finished second by about a car length! This was the second year in a row that Alex posted the fastest qualifying time at the Legends World Finals. Last year the finals were at Infineon.

The 2008 season was a transitional year for Alex Kennedy. The previous autumn he tested in a Busch East car with veteran car owner Jeff Spraker. The game plan for the 2008 season was to get Alex seat time in the late model division at Caraway Speedway. But after a few races Jeff Spraker told Alex he was ready for a promotion to the NASCAR Camping World series! Alex had never even seen South Boston Speedway but was fifth quick in practice against an impressive field that included NASCAR driver Steve Park. Each and every event he attended in 2008 Alex cracked the top ten list in practice or the race including New Hampshire Speedway and Dover International! This road course ace was strong at Sonoma and Lime Rock despite never racing in a big car at either facility. “Alex is the real deal,” said Jeff Spraker. “I like our chances in 2009 in the NASCAR Camping World East division…I can’t wait to get the season started!”

Sponsorship opportunities for next season are available to support Alex’s “Drive for Dreams” as he competes in the NASCAR Camping World East series full time for Spraker Racing Enterprises in 2009.
