H&H RETURNS TO RACE RETRO

London, December 9, 2008: Following the acquisition of Race Retro - the International Historic Motorsport Show - by Live Promotions, H&H is delighted to announce its return as the event's official auction partner for 2009 and beyond.
As well as being a founding sponsor, the company also set several world auction record prices at Race Retro, including the £299,000 it achieved for the ex-Dick Protheroe Jaguar E-type Fixed Head Coupe racer in 2005. Held within the Stoneleigh Park (Coventry) Showground and now in its sixth year, the International Historic Motorsport Show has established itself as an important part of the pre-season calendar.
Just as Race Retro is attended by a wide range of enthusiasts and not just drivers or preparation specialists, so H&H aims to compile an entry which will include roadgoing cars and motorcycles from most eras and not simply competition-orientated machinery. Among the entries already consigned to this exciting auction is a 1954 Arnolt Bristol Bolide, which is not only potentially eligible for such prestigious events as the Mille Miglia Storica, but is also rumoured to have raced with the SCCA in the Oklahoma area during the 1960s.
Following usual H&H practice, the vehicles will be prefaced by an automobilia sale including numerous decorative and motorsport-related items, as well as some significant and desirable cherished registration numbers.
Chief among these will be a selection of race suits, gloves, jackets and other memorabilia from the estate of the late David Leslie. A highly successful single-seater, sportscar and touring car driver in his own right, the amiable Scot was also responsible for helping to launch the careers of Allan McNish, David Coulthard, Dario Franchitti, Jamie Campbell-Walter and Simon Harrison. Although perhaps best known for his exploits in Group C with Aston Martin and Jaguar or in the British Touring Car Championship with Honda and Nissan, Leslie also drove a Lola Mk1 and a Royale RP24 in historic motorsport.
