AUTO CENTRAL – December 9, 2008: A team of five fantastic fellows from Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) last month joined the fight to raise funds and awareness for prevalent men’s health issues such as prostate cancer and male depression.

Movember is an annual charity event which encourages men to grow moustaches for the month whilst collecting donations for the Movember foundation. MMAL’s John Kalaitzis, Joe Princi, Ian Willoughby, Brenton Larwood and Dino Romeo proudly represented their company and raised some much-needed funds for this important cause.

The Movember Foundation is a national, non-profit organisation, created as a formal charity in 2004. Since its formation, the Movember Foundation has generated over $30 million globally, and has successfully raised widespread awareness of serious men’s health issues.

Captain of the Mitsi Mo Boys team, Ian ‘Wispy’ Willoughby, is proud of his team of fellow mo-growers, and their efforts for such a great cause.

“Through initiatives like Movember, men are becoming more aware of issues that could affect their health. By raising money for important treatment and research into prevalent conditions, the boys and I feel we’ve done something really beneficial, and we had a lot of fun in the process,” said Ian.

The two primary beneficiary organisations of monies raised through The Movember Foundation are the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, and Beyond Blue: the National Depression Initiative. Each year, over 2,900 Australian men die from prostate cancer, and a further 18,000 will be diagnosed with the disease, while male depression affects one-in-six Australian men at some stage, and most do not seek help.

Through the efforts of the many ‘Mo Bros’, who participate in Movember by growing and grooming a moustache for the month of November, men across Australia and around the world are receiving the help and support they need.
