Chippenham, Wiltshire, UK. December 1, 2008: Castle Combe Circuit has released details of its popular Action Days, with some new ideas, new titles and some great offers for clubs and for those who book early.
Action Days have been a part of Castle Combe's season for almost a quarter of a century; over the years, tens of thousands of enthusiasts have been able to enjoy driving around the circuit's demanding 1.85 miles. Depending on the day, the paddock and surrounding areas are crowded with over 100 owners' clubs representing vehicles which are relevant to the day. On the track, there is continuous action from 09.00 to 17.00, with the day divided into sessions to cater for different types of cars, drivers and clubs.
The Action Day season starts with the Spring Performance Car Action Day on Saturday 25 April. A complete sell-out for the last two years, the day appeals to clubs and owners of performance cars with separate sessions for high-performance cars, dedicated clubs and new-to-track drivers.
The Classic, Retro & Sports Car Action Day opens the new Castle Combe Classic Week on Saturday 6 June, with the Ford Capri as the feature car to celebrate its 40th Anniversary. Displays vary enormously, from the Austin A35 through to GT40 and Ferrari replicas, with almost everything in between. The giant lunchtime Classic Cruise is open to all clubs, with up to 200 cars enjoying slow but enjoyable laps of the circuit.
The new Summer Performance Car Action Day runs on Saturday 5 September, in response to the huge demand created by the April event. This event features a drifting display and also a limited eighth of a mile sprint demonstration to determine the fastest-accelerating road car of the show. The sprint will be open to a limited number of enthusiasts and is sure to be a lunchtime favourite.
MiniWorld Action Day, celebrating 50 years of the Mini, returns for its traditional Saturday 26 September date. On what is probably the busiest Mini track day of the year, we are hoping to attract a large number of pre-1965 Minis to fill the central paddock area in a themed Swinging 60s setting.
Applications from appropriate car clubs are welcome, with those accepted receiving free display space, free admission passes for up to 12 members, plus heavily-discounted track time. Individual drivers with appropriate cars for the day can book tickets and track time at reduced prices.
On the day admission costs have been held for another year, with track passes available at £35 per session.
