TOPEKA, Kan. November 25, 2008: Two of the most popular classes in SCCA Club Racing will hit the airwaves, Wednesday, Nov. 26, on SPEED. The Spec Racer Ford and Formula Vee National Championship races should serve as the perfect Thanksgiving interlude.

Programming begins at noon (EST), with a classic Spec Racer Ford showdown. Defending Champion Mike Miserendino starts his No. 11 MBI Racing Spec Racer Ford from pole, but has his mirrors full of Brian Schofield’s No. 61 PM Racing Spec Racer Ford. Schofield makes a daring move on lap seven to take over the lead, while Jordan Gore in the No. 15 Spec Racer Ford, patiently waits in third to make his move. Gore’s opportunity arrives with four laps to go, when Miserendino’s car inexplicably shuts off. Though he quickly cycles the car, does Miserendino have enough time to capture his third-straight SRF title, or will Gore and Schofield fight it out to the finish? Find out on SPEED.

Next at 1 p.m. (EST), 37 Formula Vees take to Heartland Park Topeka to crown a National Champion. With the front row is occupied by FV aces Brad Stout and Michael Varacins, there’s no doubt this race will come down to the wire. Indeed, the No. 35 Vortech FV of Stout and the No. 65 Speed Sport Eng/Veetech/ Hoosiers Speed Sport AM-5 of Varacins spend the entire race exchanging the lead, riding each other’s draft. Though each lap brings another hair-raising pass, a full-course caution late in the race will determine the winner. Tune into SPEED to see who’s lucky enough to be out in front at the right time.
