Oxford, UK. November 25, 2008: Porsche's Thomas Laudenbach, Dallara's Dialma Zinelli and Lifeline boss Jim Morris were all present in Oxford to receive the World Motorsport Symposium Awards, organised by the publishers of RACE TECH, Bernoulli and Moto Tech magazines, which honoured their achievements in 2008.

Thomas Laudenbach, Porsche's Head of Motorsport Development/Powertrain, received the Race Engine Designer of the Year award in recognition of his achievement with the LMP2 engine, which won its class at the Le Mans 24 Hours and American Le Mans Series. He was also responsible for the new direct fuel injection version, which won the LMP2 class on its debut.

In an emotional evening, Nathalie Toso presented Dialma Zinelli, Dallara's Head of Aerodynamics, with the Racecar Aerodynamicist of the Year award, which has been renamed the Dino Toso award, in honour of the much-loved Head of Aerodynamics of Renault F1, winner of the inaugural award in 2005, who very sadly passed away earlier this year.

In 2008, Dallara's IR08 chassis won all 17 races in the unified IRL Indycar series, including the Indianapolis 500. In Formula Three, its chassis have won all the major national and international titles. Dallara is also the chassis supplier to the GP2, Indy Lights and World Series one-make championships. The company entered the Grand-Am sportscar series in 2008, becoming a race winner.

Jim Morris, Managing Director of Lifeline Fire & Safety Systems, received the award for the Most Innovative New Product of the Year, for the Zero 'ZERO' fire suppression system, the lightest and most compact ever produced, which is also effective on unleaded, diesel and bio-ethanol fuel fires.

"I am very honoured to receive this prestigious award on behalf of everyone at Porsche, as it recognises the hard work that we have all put into the programme," said Thomas Laudenbach.

"I am truly honoured to have received the Dino Toso award from Nathalie Toso," said Dialma Zinelli.

"It not only means everything to me, but also to everyone at Dallara Automobili.

"Dino was an inspiration to us all and to have received an award in his memory is truly humbling."

"'I am overcome that Lifeline Fire & Safety Systems has received the award for the Most Innovative New Product of 2008," said Jim Morris.

"It is outstanding that our product, which does not help make a car go more quickly, is honoured this way. We are all very proud to have won this award."

Previous winners of the Race Engine Designer of the Year are Ulrich Baretzky, Head of Engine Technology, Audi Sport in 2005, Rob White, Deputy Managing Director Engine, Renault F1 in 2006 and Jim Covey, NASCAR Engine Manager in 2007.

Previous winners of the Racecar Aerodynamicist of the Year are Dino Toso, Head of Aerodynamics, Renault F1 in 2005, John Iley, Head of Aerodynamics, Scuderia Ferrari in 2005 and Kurt Romberg, Head of Aero, Hendrick Motorsports in 2007.

Previous winners of the Most Innovative New Product of the Year award are Deutsch in 2006 and Xtrac in 2007.

Now into its fourth year, the World Motorsport Symposium, held for the second consecutive year at Oxford Brookes University, was considered a resounding success by those who attended. Ulrich Baretzky, Head of Engine Technology at Audi Sport, said during the panel session on the Race Engine Day that it was the most important event of its kind, while John Iley, Head of Aerodynamics at Scuderia Ferrari and Chairman of the Aerodynamic/Vehicle Dynamics Day, considered this year's Symposium to be the best yet.

Plans are already being drawn up for the World Motorsport Symposium in 2009.
