Awarded By The University Of Stuttgart, Germany - Honorary Doctorate for Francisco Javier García Sanz

MARTORELL, SPAIN – November 20, 2008: Francisco Javier García Sanz, Chairman of the SEAT Board of Directors, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Economic and Social Sciences by the University of Stuttgart, Germany, in recognition of his contributions to the application of scientific methods and conclusions within the area of Purchases.

The University had appreciated the active involvement of García Saenz in encouraging scientific research and teaching at the Institute of Business Science of the Stuttgart University, making a valuable contribution to university teaching thanks to his experience as a high-ranking executive.

It has also recognised his work as a founder of the recently-created Institute of Purchases at the AutoUni (University of the Automobile) at Wolfsburg, Germany, as a token of his clear commitment to research. Additionally, the success of his business management in Volkswagen, with the introduction of a sustainable Purchases strategy for the entire Volkswagen Group is also acknowledged by the award.

In addition to chairing SEAT’s Board of Directors, Francisco Javier García Sanz is also a member of the Volkswagen AG Executive Committee, as well as being President of ANFAC, the Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers.
