MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – November 19, 2008: BP has launched the ‘BP Car and Van Fleet Fuel Efficiency Awards 2009’ in recognition of the efforts being made by car and van fleets who are proactively striving to reduce their fuel consumption and emissions.

The awards, which are open to all managers of car and van fleets across the UK, will recognise best practice by companies reducing / managing their fuel emissions. The awards will consider measures such as business mileage, the use of fuel monitoring systems, vehicle selection lists and environmental initiatives like carbon offsetting, tyre management programmes and car sharing initiatives.

Ranjeev Baines, BP’s Fuel Card Manager comments, “There are a lot of efforts being made by companies to implement initiatives to reduce the impact they have on the environment. The ‘BP Car and Van Fleet Fuel Efficiency Awards’ is our way of recognising and rewarding those companies that have taken that extra step to reduce the impact of their fleets on the environment ”

In addition to the accolade of winning, the company chosen by BP as having implemented the best measures across their fleet, along with one highly commended company will be given the opportunity to send some of their drivers on a revolutionary fuel efficiency driver training course ecolution, ecolution.uk.com courtesy of IAM Commercial. Results from ecolution trials show that, for an average fleet of around 3,000 drivers, companies could see an average annual fuel bill reduction of more than £300,000, which could also be coupled with significant CO2 savings of up to 3,000 tonnes per annum by practising the ecolution techniques.
