Maxxis Brings Flying Dutchman to SEMA

Dan Vanden Heuvel Sr., known as the Flying Dutchman in off-road circles, captured the 2008 World Series of Off-Road Racing PRO-2WD Championship, giving Maxxis Tire its first full-size truck championship.
The MAXXIS Tire display covered nearly 1,000 sq. ft. in the Tire/Wheel section of the South Hall and another 1,000 sq. ft., outside, in the Off-Road Proving Grounds. Several race vehicles were on display representing, road racing, drifting, rock crawling, and off-road racing. The championship winning #77 Chevy Silverado, was the first race vehicle trade show attendees saw as they entered the Maxxis Tire display in the South Hall.
"We were honored that Creighton wanted our truck for SEMA,? noted Dan Vanden Heuvel Sr. ?Then to have our championship winning truck showcased at the South Hall display, it really put an exclamation point on our season. Not only does this bring attention to Maxxis, but the other associate sponsors that supported us this past year."
A recap of the WSORR PRO-2WD Champion saw Dan finish the season with nine podium finishes, including three wins, and one runner-up finish in twelve rounds of racing.
The championship winning truck is up for sale, as Dan is has completed his newly designed and fabricated 2009 PRO-2WD truck. The team has plans to test the new hot rod in the early part of 2009.
Dan Vanden Heuvel and his Flying Dutchman Off-Road Team also have sponsorship opportunities for the upcoming 2009, off-road race season.
