MILTON KEYNES – October 29, 2008: Škoda continues to perform impressively in the fleet arena despite worsening economic conditions with more cars now sold to the fleet sector than to retail customers, officially making it a fleet brand.

Škoda’s fleet sales were up by a robust 12.2% last month in a sector that declined in sales overall by 3.3%. The company’s total brand share was also up to 1.8% from 1.7%. The Czech manufacturer also increased its fleet market share to 1.8%, compared to 1.4% last year.

Head of Business Sales at Škoda UK, Martin Burke, comments: “The low running costs and high residual values of Škoda vehicles are obviously appealing to cost conscious fleet operators.

“During these uncertain economic times it is imperative that fleet owners do their utmost to get the most value for money – which is something Škoda has always prided itself on.

“We expect to continue our success in the fleet market with the launch of the new Superb which offers competitive emissions and tax rates, low whole life costs and high residual values at an affordable list price.”

Although September was a notably hard month for car sales, Škoda still managed to hold its own with a solid registration of over 5,000 vehicles.
