Sportility Volkswagen from Austria: More Power for 1.4 TSI Golf, Touran, Tiguan - by O.CT Tuning
LUSTENAU, AUSTRIA – October 28, 2008: The time has come! Austrian tuner O.CT Tuning has completed development on power upgrades for vehicles with the new ECU class MED 17 using the OBD II connection.
All power kits are uploaded to the OBD connection using IPRO (Intelligent Programming). Like all O.CT upgrades, the new MED 17 kits are developed by O.CT personally and are tailored to each engine's specifics, guaranteeing maximum durability and performance. Opening the engine control unit is no longer necessary. Every customer can have power upgrades performed by one of our worldwide dealers – including models with the MED 17 ECU.
One of the first vehicles using this system that O.CT has modified is the 1.4 TSI engine by VW. This engine is offered in two trims from 140 to 170 horsepower. An additional 125 or 122 horsepower version is also available for many VW vehicles. Using a revolutionary concept of direct injection combined with a supercharger and turbocharger, Volkswagen has extracted commendable performance from this 1,4 liter engine, while drastically reducing emissions and fuel consumption.
However, O.CT Tuning still saw room for improvement.
As a result, O.CT developed a 193 horsepower power upgrade. Combined with the increase in torque (up to 65 Nm), the engine now offers noticeably improved acceleration, reaching 100 km/h from standstill 1,2 seconds quicker than the 140 hp stock version. Even more impressive: the difference to 180 km/h. The O.CT 1.4 TSI reaches this speed a breathtaking 12 seconds quicker. That translates into 110 car lengths! More importantly, this performance offers increased comfort and safety when passing slower cars on the freeway or a country road. Top speed rises from 205 to 225 km/h – while beiing just as frugal with fuel as the standard car.
O.CT also offers power upgrades via OBD for the 150, 160 and 170 hp versions of the award winning 1.4 TSI engine family.
O.CT paid particular attention to the 150 hp VW Tiguan 1.4 TSI 4 Motion. With an additional 40 hp and 40 Newtonmeters of torque, the small SUV sprints to 100 km/h a full second faster and reaches 180 km/h a whopping 10 seconds sooner than the standard vehicle – an 86 car length advantage. The small sports utility vehicle transforms into a big performer with O.CT Tuning.
