Climate Ambassador Al Gore in Audi A6 TDI e
INGOLSTADT, GERMANY - October 16, 2008: Al Gore, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Climate Ambassador and former Vice President of the United States, traveled to the Netherlands on October 14 to speak to approximately 2,000 guests about his most pressing issue: the reduction of emissions to protect the climate. His transportation during the visit was the AUDI A6 2.0 TDI e, the most efficient automobile in its class.
The A6 2.0 TDI e is a business sedan with outstanding fuel economy and supported by innovative technologies such as recuperation, Audi’s diesel direct fuel injection system that boasts figures previously unheard of in this class. Developing 136 hp and with a top speed of 208 km/h (129.25 mph), the A6 2.0 TDI e consumes only 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers (44.38 US mpg). And with CO2 emissions of 139 grams, the Audi A6 is 20 percent below the average for its class.
Audi was the exclusive mobility partner of Al Gore and his team for the Climate Ambassador’s visit to the Netherlands from October 14 to 15. During this time the Audi A6 models were powered with GTL fuel from Shell – a pioneering alternative fuel based on natural gas. Combined with the efficient Audi direct fuel injection engines, GTL reduces fuel consumption by an additional five percent; emissions of nitrogen oxides are reduced by up to 30 percent, carbon monoxide emissions by 93 percent and emissions of sulfur oxides are eliminated entirely. All Audi production vehicles can be fueled with GTL today.
