PARIS – October 15, 2008: The Renault group sold 195,647 vehicles (PC+LCV) worldwide in September 2008 under the three brands, Renault, Dacia and Renault Samsung Motors. This figure was up 1% on September 2007. Renault brand sales decreased 2.6%, Dacia sales rose 53.4%, and Renault Samsung Motors reported a 12.5% fall.

In Europe1, the Renault group market share increased 0.4 points to 8%. Sales were resilient at 119,597 units (-5%) in a market that fell 8.6% in September. In France, Group registrations rose 16.8%, with market share increasing more than two points to 28.6%. In a German market down 0.9%, sales increased 8.4%. Group sales continued to rise in the Netherlands (+3.3%), Belgium (+10.5%), Austria (+19.3%) and Portugal (+1.5%). In Spain, Renault increased its market share by nearly one point to 11.2% when the market was down a full 34.2%.

New Twingo sales rose 20% year-on-year to 11,649 units. Sales of Clio Estate (4,730), Kangoo PC (2,799), Modus and Grand Modus (7,106) remained dynamic. September sales of Koleos totaled 3,153. New Mégane Hatchback and Coupé, launched at the Paris Motor Show, mark the beginning of the renewal of Renault’s C segment range. New Mégane Hatchback will be launched from November, while Laguna Coupé will enrich the Laguna range from October. Dacia sales leapt 89.8% in Europe in September. Sandero, launched recently in Europe, sold in 4,200 units, alongside Logan sedan and Logan MCV, confirming the success of the range. Outside Europe, Group sales rose 12% in September.

In the Americas region, in a market that gained 7.1%, the Group reported strong growth of 18.3%. Group sales in Brazil leapt 80.9%, setting a new monthly sales record in September of more than 12,000 units. More than 5,000 Sanderos were sold in Brazil in September. In Argentina, sales rose by more than 21%.

In the Euromed region, where the market grew 5.2% in September, Renault group sales rose 3.1%. The Group reported growth of 22.4% in Romania, in a market that gained 1.5%. The Group maintained a high market share, at 37.3%. In an Algerian market that lost 36.2%, Group sales grew strongly, by 17.5%, for market share of more than 25%.

Group sales in the Asia-Africa region rose 20.9%, exceeding the market increase of 11.1%. In South Korea, where the market shrank 9.8%, RSM sales decreased 13.6%. More than 6,800 Logans were delivered in Iran.

Following the acceleration in the downturn of European automotive markets since July, and if the markets do not worsen more than the trend observed since the summer, Group sales at end-2008 should be slightly higher than at the end of 2007.

In a context of reduced visibility on deteriorating markets, the Renault group is demonstrating its resilient ability by increasing its market share in Europe and internationally.
