Louisville KY October 4, 2008; Sunday October 5 will be the first time Louisville has hosted a true Concours d'Elegance, with 230 cars scheduled to show from collectors across the country.
Nearly 23 states will be represented including at least 10 Louisville car collectors.
This two-day event is the major fundraiser of Brooklawn Child & Family Services, a Louisville-based, non-profit home for children who suffer from the long-term effects of abuse, neglect or life trauma.
Literally translated, Concours d'Elegance means "Competition of Elegance," with rare, vintage and unique automobiles painstakingly restored to original or "better-than-new" showroom condition.
Some are worth millions of dollars and are one-of-a-kind. Top Concours cars come with their own car "handlers." Concours cars are often shipped to events and only driven a few hundred feet at a time.
