Locked in! Ticket renewals under way for 2009 MIS race season

BROOKLYN, Mich. Sept. 30, 2008 — Michigan International Speedway’s race season may have just ended, but some motorsports fans are already locking in their tickets and campsites at the track for next year.

Ticket renewals are under way for 2009.

A race weekend at Michigan International Speedway is a vacation for many of its guests so thousands of race fans plan a full year in advance to spend their weekends with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart. For some, the sheer excitement of heart-stopping NASCAR racing is what they want.

But for others, fans just want to spend time with their family and friends in the Irish Hills of Brooklyn, Mich.

The speedway will host NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing on June 14 and Aug. 16 in 2009 — the perfect opportunity for a NASCAR fix in the national park-like setting of Michigan International Speedway.

Mike Evans of Fishers, Ind., was the first MIS customer to renew his order for next season. He renewed his August campsite in the speedway’s Brookfest Acres Campground using the speedway’s renewal link on the track Web site.

“I always try to renew my campsite as soon as possible so I don’t have to worry about it later,” Evans said. “I like the feeling of being locked into my campsite for 2009 this far in advance. We have a great camping location in Brookfest Acres. My wife Pam and I have been going to races at MIS since 1997 and we always enjoy coming back every year.”

The renewal process for the 2009 season will conclude on November 3. Renewals allow the speedway’s ticket holders from 2008 to purchase tickets and camping before they go on sale to the general public on Feb. 15.

“It is important that fans first renew their current ticket and camping orders by the November 3 deadline so they can have the first option to either keep their current package or relocate and add additional seats and campsites before the general public,” speedway President Roger Curtis said. “We hope our fans had a great experience in 2008 with improved traffic and new projects like the scoreboard and way-finding signage. We look forward to making more improvements for our guests and to host them again in 2009.”

Many fans have enjoyed their experience at MIS and have brought home many memories from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekends each June and August. With the nearly $20 million spent on capital improvement projects since 2006, MIS is continuing to invest capital into its facility to provide a better experience for its fans when they return in 2009.

The speedway is expanding its seating options for 2009 so race fans will have more leg room and seat backs. The sound system is also being revamped so race fans can hear the play-by-play race action from start to finish.

MIS has also restructured some of its pricing for 2009 so fans who feel the economic pinch can keep MIS in their 2009 vacation planning. New in 2009 are general admission seats for NASCAR Sprint Cup races that start at just $40 in two grandstands. Children 12 and under may come to the races for free with their families in those seats.

As always, parking is free at MIS and the speedway administration encourages guests to bring their own food or drinks to the racetrack in approved coolers.

Tickets and camping will go on sale to the general public beginning on Saturday, Feb. 15 during the season-opening Daytona 500. For additional information or to place a non-refundable, $50 deposit for 2009, call the MIS Ticket Hotline at 800-354-1010.
