MUNICH, Germany, Sept. 30, 2008 - Cinterion Wireless Modules GmbH, announced today that it signed a multi-year contract with the Astrata Group to supply cutting-edge GSM communication modules for Astratas new, advanced telematics unit The GLP100i. Under this agreement, Astrata will purchase approximately 200,000 units per year.

Astratas GLP100i is a compact and technologically advanced telematics device specifically developed to meet the rigorous demands of fleet management and homeland security applications. GLP100i is ideal for theft protection and real time fleet tracking with its unique built-in geofence feature that auto triggers an alert to the control center when the device enters or exits a pre-defined area. The Cinterion GSM module enables real time communications between GLP100i and an enterprise or government command center allowing simultaneous decision-making and immediate response. Cinterions compact quad-band GSM module allows Astrata to deploy systems in any GSM market worldwide and significantly reduce the size of the GLP100i device.

We chose Cinterion as our communications technology partner because they are the established global leader in the design and manufacturing of GSM wireless communication modules and we greatly value the engineering support and expertise theyve provided while we developed our new technology platform, said Tony Harrison, Astrata Group executive chairman. Cinterion not only offers us localized engineering support in countries around the world, its modules are the most advanced, robust and reliable and certified in more countries than competing GSM modules which enables Astrata to expand its global market share with ease.

We greatly value the relationship with Astrata as we see that their innovative and robust solutions are very well positioned in the sweet-spot of the market they are targeting, said Norbert Muhrer, CEO of Cinterion Wireless Modules. Cinterion values align perfectly with Astratas an ideal base for a long-term partnership.

Moving forward, Astrata and Cinterion have agreed to work together for several years to design and manufacture sophisticated telematics products building from Cinterions product road map which fits well with Astratas upcoming next generation products.
