Speedway Children's Charities to Host Auction and Track Walk at AMS

HAMPTON, Ga. September 25, 2008 – The Atlanta Motor Speedway chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities will host a NASCAR Memorabilia Auction during the Pep Boys Auto 500 race weekend Oct. 24-26, in addition to the NASCAR Foundation Track Walk presented by Aflac.

Race fans will have a variety of items to choose from at the auction including NASCAR Sprint Cup series driver helmets, uniforms, sheet metal and other racing gear from many of their favorite drivers in NASCAR’s top series. Specific items include a signed rear-quarter panel from Tony’ Stewart’s No. 20 car, a signed bumper from Carl Edwards’ No. 99 Office Depot ride, and a signed Denny Hamlin helmet.

The Auction will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25th, 30 minutes after the checkered flag waves on the Atlanta 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race at approximately 4 p.m. The Auction will be held in the Bruton Smith Park located next to the Speedway Children’s Charities Friends Wall.

In addition to the Memorabilia Auction at Atlanta Motor Speedway during the Pep Boys Auto 500 race weekend, Speedway Children’s Charities and the NASCAR Foundation will be hosting the final NASCAR Foundation Track Walk for the 2008 NASCAR season.

The Track Walk will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26th at 9:00 a.m. prior to the running of the Pep Boys Auto 500. Half of money raised will benefit the NASCAR Foundation, while the remaining 50 percent will benefit the Atlanta Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, the official charity of the Atlanta Motor Speedway and Speedway Motorsports, Inc.

The NASCAR Foundation Track Walk presented by Aflac gives race fans the opportunity to see what their favorite drivers see while competing on one of the fastest tracks in NASCAR. A $30 donation is required for online registration and children ages 14 and under are free with a paid adult. The event requires a $35 donation to register at the track.

Registration at Atlanta Motor Speedway will take place on Friday, Oct. 24 from noon until 7:00 p.m. at the Speedway Children’s Charities hauler in the vendor midway area and on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 8:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. at the same location. Fans can register Sunday, Oct. 26 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. at Gate 13.

With approximately one month remaining before the Pep Boys Auto 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, fans can still get tickets to see the seventh race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup and participate in these events, plus many others.
