Libertyville, ILL. Sept. 23, 2008 - In automobile seat applications the seat may be linearly movable, either manually or automatically via electromechanical means, on an associated track assembly. A sensor provides a signal representative of the position of the seat for several purposes, e.g. to control deployment or the force of an air bag, to feedback the motor position of the seat in connection with a seat position memory feature, etc.

PIHERīs MT rotary series have been designed for these applications and feature clutch function. Different models are available depending on the car model they are to be placed in. This product is through hole and can be easily tailored to customerīs specifications. Versions from 3 to 150 turns are already available off-the-shelf for applications such as recliner position sensor, head restraint position sensor, lumbar position sensor and seat linear memory position sensor.

The MT series store the absolute angular or linear position of the seat thanks to the resistive technology guaranteed by over 40 years Piherīs experience in the field. This also does not require external electronics and prevents system malfunctioning due to current shortages.
