Nissan Names New UK Human Resources Director
SUNDERLAND- September 19, 2008: Nissan has appointed Danny Griffiths as its new Human Resources Director – UK Operations.
The role encompasses responsibility for the Sunderland Manufacturing Plant, Research & Development function in Cranfield, Design Studio in Paddington and the Sales & Marketing function in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.
Danny who is currently Personnel Director at Nissan’s Sunderland Plant will now oversee all HR functions for Nissan in the UK as part of a wider drive to improve efficiency and effectiveness across Europe.
Following a comprehensive study, the Company has decided to optimise HR functions including the use of common processes and practises resulting in less duplication.
The study forms part of the Company’s new five year business plan, GT2012, which aims to build on its long term sustainable future based on the twin pillars of growth and trust.
Danny said: “I’m looking forward to my new responsibilities and the challenge of improving our HR level of service through improved efficiencies and common processes.
“The UK Operations make a significant contribution to the overall European business agenda and this is testament to the dedication & professionalism of all our employees.”
Danny also has responsibility for the early phase HR set up planning for the new Nissan manufacturing plant being constructed in St Petersburg, Russia. In addition he also oversees the management of a Global Training Centre (the only facility of its kind outside Japan) which is based in Sunderland. He is a member of Nissan’s European Works Council.
Danny joined Nissan in 1988 and has worked in Retail, Automotive and the Public Sectors. He is a member of the CBI Employment Policy Committee and the Apprenticeship Ambassador Network which is dedicated to the advancement of apprenticeships in the UK.
