Dacia Sandero dCi 70 and dCi 85 Diesel Versions Now Available in France

PARIS – September 12, 2008: Sandero, the compact yet roomy hatchback by Dacia, is now available in France with dCi 70 and dCi 85 diesel versions on the Ambiance, Lauréate and Prestige trim levels. Tax-paid prices start at €10,500 (Dacia Sandero Ambiance dCi 70). Order books open across the network on September 12.
A genuine benchmark in the world of diesel engines, the 1.5 dCi is acclaimed as one of the market's best performing diesel powerplants and is equipped with the very latest technology, including a high performance second-generation Common Rail direct injection. The 1.5 dCi engine is available in 70hp form, while a more dynamic 85hp version can also be ordered.
The 70hp and 85hp versions both return appreciably thrifty fuel consumption of 4.5 and 4.6 litres/100km respectively, enabling Dacia Sandero dCi to stand out as a particularly competitive player alongside the market's other diesel-engined compact cars. With a CO2 emissions rating of just 120g/km, the environmental credentials of the dCi 70 and dCi 85 versions of Dacia Sandero ensure that In addition to its compact dimensions, the 1.5 dCi engine stands out through its low weight (127kg ready to run).
Its low inertia turbocharger also minimizes lag to provide a comfortable, responsive drive. Maximum power of dCi 70 engine is 50kW (70hp) at 4,000rpm, with 85% of peak torque (160Nm at 2,000rpm) available from 1,500 to 3,500rpm. The five-speed mechanical gearbox (JH3) is life-lubricated and has been developed to effortlessly handle the torque of the dCi 70 engine which delivers punchy performance from standstill and good mid-range acceleration, even when carrying heavy loads.
With peak power of 63kW (85hp) at 3,750rpm, the 85hp version – like the 70hp version – features second generation Common Rail direct injection which ensures that exactly the right amount of fuel is pressurized to optimize efficiency and fuel consumption. The absolute turbo pressure is 2.3 bar, which is 0.4 bar higher than the same figure for the 70hp version. The dCi 85 takes Sandero dCi 85 from standstill to 100kph in just 13 seconds. Maximum torque is 200Nm at 1,900rpm, 90% of which is available from 1,500rpm. Dacia Sandero dCi 85 delivers responsive acceleration and drives through a manual five-speed gearbox (JR5), the ratios of which have been chosen as a function of the extra power and to make full use of the 200Nm of torque.
Not only are Dacia Sandero dCi 70 and Dacia Sandero dCi 85 economical to run but also have low maintenance costs, including servicing intervals of just 20,000km or every two years in Europe. Dacia Sandero comes with a three-year / 100,000 km warranty in the majority of its European markets.
