TALLADEGA, AL. – That’s right, race fans…Talladega’s ultimate party with a purpose, RACE FEVER, is moving to the fall in 2009. If you are planning to attend the 2009 AMP Energy 500 Event Weekend at Talladega Superspeedway October 30-Nov 1, 2009, have we got another HOT ticket for you! Make your plans NOW to attend the 24th Annual Race Fever Night, a barbecue dinner and auction fundraiser for Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind set for Friday evening, October 30th at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum. We are extremely excited about our move to later in the race season and hope you will make your plans NOW to join us!

Race Fever began in 1986, when former NASCAR Chairman, the late Bill France, Jr. organized the first event to benefit children and adults served by AIDB. This event has come a long way since its beginnings on the football field at the Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind raising $12,000. Through the continued support and coordination between the racing community, AIDB and Talladega Superspeedway, Race Fever has grown steadily to raise well in excess of $2.7 million for AIDB Foundation, the designated charity of Talladega Superspeedway.

This event has been a sell out for the last several years, so track officials urge everyone to reserve your tickets early or risk missing out on the opportunity to enjoy a delicious barbecue meal and the opportunity to meet their favorite NASCAR drivers as well as to bid on one-of-a-kind auction items and experiences.

Tickets are still only $60 per person, and include admission to the event, an all-you-can-eat barbecue feast, the chance to meet dozens of NASCAR drivers, and an opportunity to bid on remarkable race memorabilia, vacation packages and other items donated by businesses and friends of AIDB. Gathering a group of friends to come along provides an opportunity to save, as a complete table for 8 is only $450. Event tickets and sponsorships are available online at www.racefever.org.

A total of 16 Sprint Cup and Nationwide drivers made appearances at Race Fever 2008—many repeat attendees including Kyle Petty, Bobby Labonte, Kurt Busch, David Ragan, Joe Nemechek, Marcos Ambrose, A.J. Allmendinger, Brian Vickers, Paul Menard, Kevin Lepage, Travis Kvapil, David Gilliland, Scott Wimmer, Kelly Bires, Brad Coleman and Cale Gale.

Legendary Coach, Sonny Smith and media personality, Mike “The Bagman” Bagley conducted great on-stage interviews with each of the drivers. Darrell Waltrip again hosted our Live Auction with help this year from Alabama Auctioneer’s Association Hall of Fame auctioneer Wayne Thorn and long-time AIDB supporter Steve Barkdoll. Race fans were on the edge of their seats with this opportunity to win once-in-a-lifetime race memorabilia and experiences. The Driver Introduction Handshake for Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 race was the evening’s highest selling item going for $5,700 followed closely by a 2008 Kawasaki Prairie 360 2x4 donated by Talladega Cycle Sales selling for $5,400. Other items included several VIP packages for the Aaron’s 312 race and Aaron’s 499 race including driver introductions, Victory Lane experiences and a National Anthem Ceremony ride for the Aaron’s 499.
