SPEED GT from Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix Airs Friday on SPEED

TOPEKA, Kan. Sept. 10, 2008 – The SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT Championship’s exciting return to the streets of Belle Isle airs Friday, Sept. 12, on SPEED.

Tune in or set your DVRs for noon (EDT) to see point leader Randy Pobst start from the pole and lead the field into Turn One at the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. Through the tight confines of the temporary street circuit, the driver of the No. 1 K-PAX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 must defend his lead from Detroit’s finest machinery, including the No. 8 Cadillac CTS-V of Andy Pilgrim and the No. 10 ACS/Sun Microsystems Ford Mustang Cobra of Brandon Davis. A stalled car on the standing start and the car-crunching concrete walls necessitate several full-course cautions, which only give Pilgrim and Davis more opportunities to pounce on Pobst’s Porsche. The final lap may provide the best opportunity to steal Pobst’s thunder. Tune into SPEED on Friday, Sept. 12, at noon to see how it all unfolds at the checkered flag.

Divided into two separate series and races (SCCA SPEED GT and SCCA SPEED Touring Car), the SCCA SPEED World Challenge Championships are America’s top production car-based series.
