Former Engelhard and Union Carbide Executive Lauds Nanostellar's Clean Technology Applications and Business Model

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 9 -- Nanostellar, Inc., a company developing and licensing materials for cleantech applications using rational design, today announced that Dr. Edward T. Wolynic has been appointed to the company's board of directors.

Wolynic brings to Nanostellar more than 30 years of experience in managing technology, business development, licensing, and intellectual property for several global Fortune 500 companies in diverse market domains. He served as chief technology officer and group vice president of strategic technologies at Engelhard Corporation, a leading surface and materials science company, from 2000 until its 2006 acquisition by BASF. As an elected officer of Engelhard, Wolynic was responsible for both the corporation's overall technology investment and the Ventures/New Business Development group. He also served on the board of the Nippon-Engelhard joint venture. Before joining Engelhard, Wolynic was vice president of research and development at International Specialty Products and at UOP, a Honeywell company. Previously, he held positions with Union Carbide and Merck.

Wolynic is a member of the board of directors of Immunomedics, Inc. and the Garden State Cancer Center Foundation, and serves on the Franklin Lakes Environmental Commission. He holds a BS in chemical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and earned a master's and doctoral degree in chemical engineering from Princeton University.

"I am very excited about joining Nanostellar's board and helping its management team fully leverage the potential of the company's technology platform. Given my extensive experience in the catalyst industry, I am truly impressed by Nanostellar's technology and its potential for emissions control. The company has an experienced management team and an innovative business model that creates a win for all parties in the value chain. The convincing proof to me for all this is the quality and level of resources that foremost automotive manufacturers are devoting to evaluating and qualifying Nanostellar products," Wolynic commented.

"We are excited and honored to welcome Ed to the Nanostellar team," said Pankaj Dhingra, CEO and president of Nanostellar. "Ed brings to Nanostellar years of experience and credibility in the catalyst industry, and his acceptance of the board position validates Nanostellar's technology, business model, and team. We have always known that in rational design, we have a truly revolutionary technology whose first product, NS Gold, is being recognized by the industry as an extraordinary solution. With Ed's help, we will expand the portfolio of our clean technology applications, building upon the proven rational design methodology."
