Reno, Nevada - August 22, 2008 - "This is turning into a 'Woodstock' for the racing industry, drivers, and enthusiasts," organizer Miki Cohen said. "There are a lot of individual shows that cater to specific segments of the racing world, but I think we've gone one better and pulled them all under one roof this November."
The Racer's Expo, held in Reno, Nevada, from November 14th through the 16th, is a coming together of the technical, educational, informational, and aspirational elements of the racing industry for every level of participant.
"We've been hard at work all year long on this, and our focus has been to give drivers, crew chiefs, engineers, team owner, vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers a home to gain knowledge or share knowledge with each other," said Cohen. "An even like SEMA is great, but it's an exclusive, 'invitation only' event. The average racer isn't invited. PRI is also great, but it's on the other side of the country in Orlando, Florida. Now there's an alternative on the West coast that opens its doors to everyone."
With just three months to go, both floor space and the event calendar have been filling up rapidly. "We've found that with so many forms of racing being catered to at the Racer's Expo, our host site, the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, will be overflowing with exhibitors and seminars for all three days," she noted. "The West Coast is filled with every popular form of auto racing -- that's why drag racing, road racing, oval track & dirt racing have all been included in our mix of offerings."
The unique blend of different racing disciplines under one roof is what Cohen expects to make Racer's Expo so rewarding for all that attend. "I think our approach from day one has been to fill our expo with the best speakers, the best vendors, and the sharpest minds to help everyone that comes. The road racing guys can learn from the drag, dirt, and oval side, and vice versa. There are countless tips, tricks, and products that everyone can use to go faster."
Cohen was quick to note that while the Racer's Expo is centered on the hardcore racer, the driving enthusiast and grassroots contingent will be well represented. "We'll have a number of auto manufacturers with their cars on site to be sampled in addition to seminars and vendors aimed at the weekend warriors out there, not just the pros."
Education is the cornerstone of the inaugural Racer's Expo, according to Cohen. "When I first got into racing I searched everywhere to learn about the sport inside and out. From safety equipment to brake pads, I sought out the best advice on how to make an informed purchase. I've worked to pull in experts in many areas to speak on the key topics everyone asks about-how to be a better driver on and off the track, how to market yourself or your product in racing, about new technology that's coming online, and a few other topics we're working on."
Featured speakers range from Speed Secrets author and former Indycar driver Ross Bentley, driving simulator expert Tom Pabst of Pabst Racing, Sports Marketing mavens Ginger Gallagher and Michelle Soyars of MediaFit, and the aforementioned David Ray of Hooked on Driving. More seminars and subject matter experts will be announced in the coming weeks.
Although reservations for the expo are filling fast, opportunities still exist for vendors, manufacturers, and advertisers to secure their place at the show. "We still have vendor space and advertising opportunities for those interested. With this being our inaugural event, it's a perfect time to get in front of the assembled audience and media to make an impact."
"The regular ticket price is $40 for all three days-a steal. If you're a currently licensed racer with NASA, SCCA, ASA, NASCAR, USAC, BMWCCA, etc, admission is free."
