GAYDON, August 21, 2008: Land Rover will once again be supporting The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials as title sponsor from September 4-7, 2008, where it will also be celebrating its milestone anniversary.

Land Rover's association with Burghley dates back to the 1990s but the relationship was cemented in 2005 when the Company took up the reins as the main sponsor of the Horse Trials. Land Rover has confirmed that this association will continue until at least 2010.

John Edwards, managing director for Land Rover UK said: "The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials is at the pinnacle of our sponsorship portfolio. There is a natural fit between the Land Rover brand and equestrian sports, so where better to showcase this than at one of the top three-day events in the world."

He continued: "This year, Burghley looks set to provide us with some top class competition with the world's best horses and riders competing for the trophy. We are thrilled to be able to contribute to the event's growing success and to what has now also become the social event of the equestrian calendar."

Elizabeth Inman, director of The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, added: "For the sport of eventing, Burghley is an important international occasion. For competitors, it is an opportunity to compete with the best in the world and showcase their ability to selectors and for visitors and television viewers it provides a wonderful shop-window for the sport. Thanks to Land Rover's significant contribution, Burghley continues to be a world leader in eventing."

Throughout the event, Land Rover will be showcasing its impressive stable of vehicles, led by the flagship 2009 Range Rover and the 60th anniversary special edition Defender SVX. Visitors can also test out the vehicles’ capabilities for themselves on the 'Terrapod' – a simulated off-road course - which is an ever popular attraction.

Also, this year, Land Rover is celebrating a very special anniversary. 60 years ago, on April 30, 1948, saw the birth of an icon when the first ever Land Rover was unveiled at an Amsterdam Motor Show. Since then adventurers, farmers, scientists and outdoor sport enthusiasts the world over have all used Land Rover's capability to access some of the world's most inhospitable regions.

Today, Land Rover goes from strength-to-strength, with a five-model line-up headed by its flagship, the Range Rover. The Company has already made great strides towards improving the fuel economy and reducing emissions of all current vehicles. It is also investing significant resources in new radical technologies that will continue the improvement in its overall environmental performance and will be applicable to all its cars in the future.

Land Rover is proud to be the Official Vehicle to the British Eventing team as well as supporters of The Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe, Royal Windsor Horse Show and Bramham Horse Trials.
