BROOKLYN, Mich. Aug. 14, 2008 – Michigan International Speedway President Roger Curtis will be featured on Fox Business Channel during a live interview Friday to promote the speedway’s green efforts.

Michigan International Speedway is at the forefront of Green Initiatives in major motorsports. Through a number of broad-based programs and partnerships, the speedway team is leading the way in helping reduce the immediate impacts from the facility and its major events through aggressive recycling efforts, collaboration with local governments and agencies, pursuit of renewable energy sources and conservation efforts.

Most notably, the CARFAX 250 on Saturday will be carbon neutral via a donation CARFAX has made to The Conservation Fund to offset the carbon dioxide that results from the race, including the energy use at the venue, the gasoline used by the race cars during the race, employee and fan travel, hotel stays, and camping generators. Carfax offset more than 4,200 tons of carbon emissions from last year’s event at MIS, making it the first carbon-neutral stock car event in history. MIS and The Conservation Fund have partnered with Carfax in support of this year’s effort. And to symbolize the joint initiative and commemorate Michigan International Speedway’s 40th anniversary this season, Carfax and MIS will plant 40 trees outside the racetrack.

The interview will air locally live from Michigan International Speedway at 10:45 a.m. on Brighthouse Channel 122, Buckeye Cable Channel 176, Time Warner Channel 185, and DirecTv Channel 359. (Check FOXBusiness.com for channels in your area.)

Michigan International Speedway hosts this weekend’s 3M Performance 400 presented by Bondo NASCAR Sprint Cup race on Sunday and the CARFAX 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday. For tickets or pit passes, please call MIS at 800-354-1010 or log onto MISpeedway.com.
