BROOKLYN, Mich., August 14, 2008 - Michigan International Speedway has announced that country music star Danielle Peck will perform the National Anthem prior to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 3M Performance 400 presented by Bondo on Sunday.

It will be the second time Peck has performed at MIS as the Coshocton, Ohio, native sang the anthem prior to the Sprint Cup Series race in August of 2006. She is scheduled to perform as opening act for fellow country star Pat Green during the Miller Lite Rock N’ Racing post-race concert on Saturday, which will take place following the NASCAR Nationwide Series CARFAX 250 on Saturday.

Additionally, 3M will be granting a wish to Austin Irwin, a 12-year-old Make-A-Wish kid from Greenfield, Mo. Irwin will give the command to start engines for the 3M Performance 400 presented by Bondo, as well as meet his favorite driver Jeff Gordon prior to the race.

The honorary starter for the 3M Performance 400 presented by Bondo is senior vice president and chief financial officer for 3M, Pat Campbell. Campbell will wave the green flag to start the track’s 79th career Sprint Cup Series event.

“Pre-race ceremonies for a Sprint Cup Series event are always exciting, and this one will be no different,” track President Roger Curtis said. “Being able to grant a Make-A-Wish to a child like Austin is really special. To have him participate in the ceremonies with a wonderfully accomplished country star like Danielle Peck will be exciting for him. Mr. Campbell and the whole 3M company is in its third year of sponsoring a Cup race with us, and we have really enjoyed our relationship with them.”

Tickets and camping are available for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 3M Performance 400 presented by Bondo on Sunday and NASCAR Nationwide Series CARFAX 250 on Saturday by calling the official MIS Ticket Hotline at 800.354.1010 or by visiting MISpeedway.com.
