GENT, Belgium, It was a coincidence that on 08-08-2008, Volvo’s plant in Gent, Belgium, produced its 4 millionth car. The model representing this milestone is a V50 in R-design trim, that was ordered by a Dutchman.

The Belgian plant started production in 1965 with the Volvo 120 and now builds the S40, V50, C30, S60 and the brand new XC60. It is one of two main production facilities of Volvo Cars.

2008 is the year of two other milestones: on February 20th Volvo built its 15 millionth car, a C70, in the plant in Uddevalla, Sweden, and on June 16, Volvo Cars Torslanda in Göteborg, Sweden marked 6 million cars.
