MILTON KEYNES – August 6, 2008: The first lucky winners of the new Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency online prize draw, run in association with SEAT, have been presented with the keys to their prizes; each one scooping a smart new Ibiza Ecomotive.

SEAT’S ultra-economical Ecomotive supermini is the star prize in the DVLA’s online road tax renewal campaign, and the first winners were invited along to SEAT’s stand at the recent British International Motorshow to receive their keys from Transport Minister Jim Fitzpatrick and SEAT S. A. President Erich Schmitt.

The Ecomotive has been chosen by bosses in Swansea as the star prize in a competition linked to a push by the Agency to encourage drivers to renew their road tax online or by phone – a simple process taking around four minutes to complete.

Two of the three winners in the first draw, Kevan Pulfrey of Sheffield and John Dixon of Northumberland, made the trip to London to collect their keys and admire at first-hand the frugal new model.

SEAT is supplying more than a dozen of the fuel-sipping superminis – capable of returning a remarkable 74.3 mpg on the combined cycle while generating just 99 g/km of CO2 – as prizes in monthly giveaways on the DVLA’s dedicated renewal site: www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc

Kevan, 37, assistant manager at Sheffield landscaping company White Horse Green People, said of his win: ‘I’m really pleased to have won an environmentally friendly car through the DVLA. I work for an environmental landscaping agency and part of my role is to help others reduce their impact on the environment.

‘I now have a car with low emissions, which will help me reduce my CO2 emissions even further.’

Mechanical engineer John, 60, said: ‘My wife is due a new car so I think she’ll be doing most of the driving of it! It even has the added bonus of qualifying for zero charge for vehicle tax because it has low CO2 emissions.’

MP Jim Fitzpatrick commented: ‘It only takes four minutes to use DVLA’s electronic vehicle licensing service, and everyone gets automatically entered into the free prize draw. Vehicle taxing is something we all have to do, but now there is an extra incentive for doing it.’
