More British F3 International points for Philip Major at Spa
SPA FRANCORCHAMPS, BELGIUM - Canadian British F3 International Series driver Philip Major scored his best finish of the year this weekend at the famous Spa Francorchamps Circuit in Belgium. Starting from 15th on the grid, Major pushed forward to finish 8th in class.
"I bogged down on the start a bit," Major said. "The circuit had more grip than I anticipated. I knew the car had good pace, so I was able to push very hard during the race to move up. Towards the end, the tires started to drop off, but I was able to score a good result. I am really happy to score this result for my Fortec team. This result will give us some good momentum into the next round at Silverstone in a couple of weeks."
For Major, it was a good result to end the weekend, but the opening race of the weekend on Friday didn't go so well. Major was hit from behind on the second lap.
Major managed to keep the car running after being spun off the track, and rejoined the race at the tail end of the field. "It was frustrating to start the race that way," Major said. "I was able to keep the car running, and I just put my head down and pushed hard so I could catch up. I got past a few guys, but the lead group was too far ahead for me to catch." Major would wind up 20th in race one.
Major now takes two weeks off before heading to Silverstone on August 16-17.
