NAGOYA July 28, 2008; Japan Today reporteds that Toyota Motor Corp will raise the prices of 13 models in the U.S. market by an average $181, or 0.81%, in stages by October.

The move, which affects prices of popular models such as the Corolla compact car and the Prius hybrid car, is part of the switch-over process for 2009 models. But the size of the hikes and the number of affected models are bigger than usual due partly to rises in material and shipping costs as well as the yen’s appreciation in foreign exchange, it said.
