PEVELY, Mo. – Traditionally, it has been one of the biggest nights in racing in the St. Louis area and this year’s M&Ms Night of Stars at I-55 Raceway isn’t going to disappoint. In addition to drivers such as I-55 Raceway co-owner Ken Schrader and defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday, two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and Eldora Speedway owner Tony Stewart is scheduled to race the high-banked 1/3-mile track on Wednesday, July 23.

Stewart and his NASCAR comrades are racing UMP Modifieds that night with proceeds from the event benefitting the Special Olympics. I-55 Raceway co-owner and promoter Ray Marler said he never ceases to be amazed by the generosity shown by the biggest names in motorsports.

“When you look at guys like Tony Stewart and the schedule they have to keep, it’s amazing that they have any free time at all,” Marler said. “For them to spend that free time here at I-55 Raceway like they have over the years for these charity events, it just shows the level of class they have and the respect they have for the sport and its fans.”

In addition to Stewart, Schrader, and Hornaday, other drivers scheduled to appear are: Ken Schrader Racing NASCAR Camping World Series driver Ricky Carmichael and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series veterans Brendan Gaughn, Rick Crawford, and Dennis Setzer. More drivers are expected to be announced in the coming days.

In addition to watching the stars of NASCAR race on one of the most renowned dirt tracks in the Midwest, fans will have the opportunity to see some great racing throughout the night. The full UMP dirt late model program is scheduled to run, as well as the POWRi Series midgets and the 600 cc outlaw sprints.

Gates open at 4 p.m. on July 23 with practice starting at 6 p.m. and racing kicking off at 7 p.m. For ticket information, call 636-479-3219 or visit them on the Web at I55Raceway.com.
