Mazda Continues Record Pace in June
LEVERKUSEN – July 10, 2008: Mazda closed out the first half of 2008 last month by setting two more all-time sales records, consolidating its position as one of Europe’s fastest-growing nameplates so far this year. After achieving its highest fiscal year volume in history (ending in March), and setting monthly records in January, March and May; Mazda did it again last month achieving its highest sales volume ever for the month of June, at 34,200 units. This is 6,200 units more than June 2007 and up 22 percent year-on-year.
June also closed out a record first quarter for Mazda in the current fiscal year. During the period April through June 2008, retail sales volume stood at 93,700 units, which is up 19 percent and nearly 28,000 units more than the same period last year.
Every market contributed to June’s record performance, with 16 countries reporting sales increases (see table below for details). Russia led the way again, setting an all-time single-month record for volume – its 19th consecutive month of double-digit growth or better. Greece and Portugal set all-time June records for volume, while Mazda’s Czech Republic & Slovakia organisation, and Hungary, achieved their second-highest June volumes. The UK and Spain had good months as well, recording their highest June market shares ever, at an estimated 1.9 percent and 1.0 percent respectively.
