2008 British Motor Show: World Premiere of Nissan Qashqai+2

London-July 04,2008: Building on the strengths of a car that has taken the market by storm, Nissan’s new seven-seat Qashqai+2 will be firmly in the spotlight as it makes its glamorous world debut at the forthcoming British International Motor Show (23 July-3 August). With the focus firmly on its crossover line-up, Nissan will also launch its striking all-new Murano together with a special edition Qashqai sporting 18 inch alloys and featuring a specially designed Bose audio system.. Elsewhere on the Nissan stand visitors will be able to see the Denki Cube electric-powered concept, the Micra 25 and Note Accenta S special editions.

Crossovers
Qashqai has become a huge European success for Nissan with over 170,000 sales since launch, but in a clear demonstration that you can’t have too much of a good thing, the new Qashqai+2 features the same distinctive style, top quality materials and genuine driving enjoyment, but brings added space and versatility to create the first family crossover.

Designed and engineered in Europe and built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, its greater length and longer wheelbase accommodates an extra row of seats designed for children or for occasional use by small adults and has allowed luggage space to be expanded by 90 litres.

As well as Qashqai+2, a special version of the standard Qashqai will also be making its appearance at the Show. The Sound & Style comes luxuriously equipped and as its name suggests, boasts a number of enhanced design features both inside and out, as well as a bespoke Bose® sound system. Sound & Style goes on sale in November with a choice of both petrol and diesel 2.0-litre engines.

Nissan’s portfolio of crossovers is completed by the distinctive Murano and visitors to the British Motor Show will be able to see the brand new range which goes on sale towards the end of this year. Designed as a ‘super evolution’ of the original, it boasts elegant new looks, a luxury interior, a 3.5-litre DOHC V6 now developing 256 PS and a more premium driving feel thanks to the new, advanced platform and lighter suspension components.

Denki Cube Concept
It doesn’t boast much in the way of curves, it’s very white and it’s very green to run – the Denki Cube Concept (Denki is the Japanese for electric) is a demonstration of a possible future small car for the world market.

Using as its basis the current generation Cube, one of the company’s most popular cars in the Japanese domestic market, the square, minimalist styling is undeniably charming, while the interior is intended to be like a relaxing, social hub. But most importantly, Denki Cube showcases Nissan’s latest electric motor drivetrain powered by laminated lithium-ion batteries which offer more power, energy and battery stability, as well as packaging flexibility.

GT-R
First deliveries don’t begin until March 2009, but Nissan has already taken over 1000 orders in the UK for the extraordinary GT-R. Designed to be driven fast and skilfully by just about anybody, the 480 PS Nissan flagship has been widely acknowledged as one of the best handling and most powerful supercars ever.

62 mph from a standing start in around 3.5 seconds and a potential top speed of 195 mph (provisional) are extraordinary enough, but it is the car’s astonishing ground covering capabilities that mark out the new Nissan, ably demonstrated by a 7m 29s lap of the infamous Nordschleife (Nurburgring), one of the fastest ever achieved by a production car. Most remarkable of all is that prices start from just £52,900.

Micra 25 Special Edition
25 years ago the first Nissan Micra was introduced to the European market. Known as the K10, it proved to be both popular and extremely durable, and now Nissan is marking the occasion with a special anniversary edition of the current Sunderland-built model, known as the Micra 25.

Note Acenta S
Now available to order, NOTE Acenta S is the latest addition to Nissan’s capacious family hatchback range. This special edition will be on the stand fitted with the new high power diesel engine. Output is up from 86 to a punchy 103 PS, and the good news is that it has a minimal impact on frugality.
