Joliet, IL – Reigning Division 4 Champion, Steve Harker made his sixth Final Round appearance for the 2008 season after scoring Runner-Up at the LODRS Division 3 race held at Route 66 Raceway this past weekend, June 13-15.
Harker, from Gainesville, GA continued to face electronic gremlins as the team struggled to qualify the OMS Graphics / Southern Safety Supply Chevy Monte Carlo until the final session with a 5.70et at 243mph pass that earned Harker the number eight spot.
Harker was paired against number one qualifier, Mick Snyder in the first round in which Harker was handed the win on the start line as Snyder’s car pulled through the stage beams before the tree was activated automatically red lighting the Snyder Motorsport’s Mustang.
Semi-Finals match up of Harker and John Bojec was rained delayed for the better part of two and half hours and with the changing weather conditions Harker made the right tune-up call laying down a 5.67et at 254mph pass to take the win over Bojec’s 6.02et at 247mph pass.
For the sixth time this season, Harker made the call for the final round and paired up against the Dodge Charger of Bobby Martin. Harker made the first move off the line however the OMS Graphics / Southern Safety Supply Chevy Monte Carlo slowed and Martin caught Harker by half track and never looked back. Martin took the win with a 5.65et to Harker’s 5.75et.
“It was great to make it to the final round, especially after we’ve been struggling so much these past two weekends with electronic problems. We really had trouble getting the car down the track but I believe we fixed the problem and hopefully we can move onto our next race and continue to see this OMS Graphics, Southern Safety Supply Monte Carlo going rounds.” Said Harker
The Harker Motorsport Team will take a weekend off before heading to the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, OH June 26-29.
