KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY SELLS OUT NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES
SPARTA, Ky. - More than 66,000 grandstand tickets for the June 14 NASCAR Nationwide Series “Meijer 300 Presented by Oreo” at Kentucky Speedway sold out this evening.
The NASCAR Nationwide Series will race in front of its eighth straight capacity crowd at the track at 8:30 p.m., Saturday. The seven-year attendance average for the annual Kentucky Speedway event is 70,952.
Three thousand standing room only tickets will go on sale at the Kentucky Speedway Fan Center beginning at 9:00 a.m., tomorrow. Sales will continue at the speedway main entrance tomorrow afternoon. Standing room viewing areas will be behind Grandstands 1 and 6. Tickets will be $40.
The second of five 2008 event weekends at the track opens tomorrow with Nationwide Series practice sessions beginning at 5:00 p.m. Fans will receive free infield access until practice ends at 8:00 p.m. Gates open at 2:00 p.m., Saturday. NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers take to the track for qualifying at 5:10 p.m., rock group Smash Mouth will be in concert at 6:30 p.m., on the Turn 1 Concourse and “Meijer 300 Presented by Oreo” Honorary Starter and Univ. of Louisville Basketball Coach Rick Pitino will send 43 cars racing at 8:30 p.m. The speedway will team with the U.S. Border Patrol to provide fans small American flags in honor of Flag Day and Nick Lachey’s Team Cincinnati Choir will sing the national anthem.
The “Meijer 300 Presented by Oreo” is scheduled to feature current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings leader Kyle Busch, defending Nationwide Series Champion Carl Edwards, current NASCAR Nationwide Series standings leader Clint Bowyer, David Ragan and David Reutimann. NASCAR Nationwide Series regulars Stephen Leicht and David Gilliland earned respective upset victories in 2007 and 2006.
