SPEED GETS AGGRESSIVE IN ARCA RUN AT POCONO

For a self-described methodical driver who preaches patience and self-control, Scott Speed went for it - and then some - in Saturday's ARCA Pocono 200.

"We were 25th with seven laps to go and finished second," Scott said. "I mean, I definitely didn't make too many friends out there, but that was an epic end to the race. Period."

Indeed, Scott was the hardest of chargers in Eddie Sharp Racing's No. 2 Red Bull Toyota. The pole sitter made up more than 20 positions inside of 10 laps, battling back from two ailing tires to get within five car lengths of winner Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

"To be honest, it was very surprising to catch the 99 (Stenhouse) as much as we did," Scott said. Scott, who led the most laps with 39, moved to third in the championship standings with his fourth top-five finish in eight races. He's 100 points behind leader Stenhouse entering Friday's race at Michigan International Speedway.

He has another double-duty weekend to deal with. Scott will compete in the ARCA race and in Saturday's Craftsman Truck event, where he'll drive Bill Davis Racing's No. 22 Red Bull Toyota for 200 miles.

Scott is gaining on the top spot - moving to 3rd in the overall driver standings, just 100 points behind leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
