TOPEKA, Kan. (June 3, 2008) – If you can’t wait for this weekend’s SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge races at Watkins Glen, get your fix Wednesday, June 4, at noon (EDT), by tuning into SPEED for Round Five of the SCCA SPEED Touring Car Championship.

On a beautiful Memorial Day in Connecticut, polesitter Chip Herr leads the field away from the grid and into Turn One at Lime Rock Park. Unfortunately, only a couple more rows make it through the corner before wheels lock up, dust flies and cars are sideways. The safety car is deployed before the leaders return to the front straight.

On the restart, fifth-place James Sofronas is forced to pit with a flat tire. Desperate to stay on the lead lap, Sofronas is in and out of the pits swiftly, but returns to the course directly in front of the leaders. While continuing their own battle for the lead, Herr and second-place Peter Cunningham struggle to find their way around Sofronas, who may be last on the lap chart, but is setting some of the fastest laps of the race. Keep your eyes glued to SPEED to see how Herr and Cunningham manage to get around Sofronas and if third-place Pierre Kleinubing can capitalize.
